Winter Training Program - 12 week
2008 Preparation Program
Goal of program:
To provide structure to athletes who desire a sensible, structured program to guide them
between
October/November and December/January as a lead in to the 2008 season.
This plan will enable
you to start your training in 2008 with confidence and a solid level of fitness.
Inspired and originally created for athletes participating one of Hypercat
Racing's half-ironman or Ironman training
programs, this plan ideal is for the working professional
who wants to start
next year healthy and fit. You don't need to be tackling Ironman, just the
desire to have a plan for success.
The mission is to be physically and mentally ready to undertake the task of beginning the journey to the finish line...be your race distance sprint,
olympic, half or Ironman.
The program features:
-a progressive core strength component requiring a swiss ball
-a swim training component focused on drill work and technique.
-a run emphasis preparing athletes for a January or February half marathon
-a cycling component is pedaling technique oriented and is best utilized with
the use of a stationary trainer.
Weekly hours range from a minimum of 6 hours to a maximum peak volume of 12 hours,
if all optional workouts are completed. This plan is a preparatory program to
have you ready to begin the base phase of training in January or February with good fitness
and economy.
-Also, for those who plan to do more traditional gym based strength
training,
the plan will include Joe Friel's strength training protocols as a resource for
you.
The plan will allow for 6 weeks of Anatomic Adaptation and 4 weeks of
Muscular Endurance strength based training.
Cost: $99
