*Congratulations Sentinel Triathlon Hypercats!
A number of Hypercats competed at the Sentinel Olympic distance triathlon, contested in Santa Cruz on 9/26.
Great job to Mark Reinstra, Tilden Moschetti, Kimberly Klein and Vivian Walsh for your strong performances!

*Lick Wilmerding High School Cross Country season is off to a great start!
Last weekend, the Tigers fielded two teams at the Stanford Invitational, a prestigious early season Cross Country invitational. Despite not running either boys or girls varsity teams full strength, the boys came away with a 4th place and the girls took a strong fifth.

*Drina Boban takes 15th at USAT Age Group Nationals.
Congratulations to Drina for her performance at the USA Triathlon age group national championships contested in Shreveport, LA on 9/25/04. Drina, swam, cycled and ran her way to a 15th place F30-34 finish in 2:25:48.
Drina's finish is a beautiful cap to a phenomenal season which included numerous top 5 finishes and a sprint triathlon win.  

*Mark Fleming is an IRONMAN!
Congratulations to Mark Fleming who successfully achieved his goal of crossing the line at Ironman Wisconsin. Mark was derailed from Ironman Lake Placid in 2003 due to a severe bike crash, but he recovered and resumed training. Ironman WIsconsin was Mark's first Ironman and represented an oh-so-sweet comeback from the '03 crash. Way to go, Mark!

8/24/04 - TriOne Triathlon & Ezer Baby Arrives
Congratulations to Ken Jew on his first triathlon. Ken successfully conquered the Tri One Sprint Triathlon on 8/22 under very challenging swim condition. Ken is now preparing for the Nautica Malibu Triathlon in September. Hypercat athlete, Tilden Moschetti, took on the Olympic distance course and surprised himself with a fine showing, despite long hours in his law offices in San Francisco. Go T-dog!

Andrew Ezer and his wife Susan, welcomed Dashiell Emmett into the world on August 20th at 8:30 pm. Little Dashiell weighed in at 7 pounds, 6 oz and he looks to have the potential to be an awesome swimmer! Daddy Andrew is Hypercat Racing's preferred deep tissue therapist and has worked with Coach Phil and Rachel for over 5 years.  After a short break to be with his new son, Andrew will be back at work preparing athletes for their competitions and training.

8/2/04 - Vineman 1/2 and ITU Duathlon World Championships
Congratulations to Bryan Suggitt on his personal best half-ironman performance at the Vineman 1/2 this past weekend. 

Congratulations to the entire Team USA duathlon squad and their accomplishments at the ITU long course world championships contested in Frederica, Denmark over the weekend. Greg Watson won the men's professional world championship title. More race information here.

Dr. Hal Rosenberg is an IRONMAN with a debut 12:19 in Lake Placid...go Hal!

7/23/04 - Coach Phil interviewed on NPR...
Coach Phil Casanta could be heard nationally on National Public Radio affiliates on Friday's "Marketplace" radio segment. Locally, "Marketplace" can be heard on KQED-FM. Interviewed by reporter, Brian Bull, Coach Phil was asked questions pertaining to Trek's marketing as it relates to
Lance Armstrong and the Tour de France. Coach Phil is a bike fit professional,
full-time cycling and multi-sport coach and is highly regarded as a consultant, analyst and cycling industry expert.

7/21/04 - Guiness Book of World Records - Smallest Cat
As broadcast this evening on the local ABC news affiliate, 
Hypercat salutes "Mr. Peebles" recognized as the 
smallest cat in the world by the Guinness Book of World Records.
Mr. Peebles weighs just 3 pounds! Go Mr. Peebles!

7/27/21Long time Hypercats Ray Peveri (Amesbury, MA) and Dr. Hal Rosenberg (San Francisco) are making final preparations this week for their races at Ironman USA in Lake Placid this weekend.

Sunday's race will be Ray's third Ironman and race in Lake Placid. An auditor for the state of Massachusetts, Ray has a little boy, Nicholas and has worked hard to balance all the aspects of his life to prepare for Ironman. Ray is as tough as nails. Good luck Ray!

Dr. Hal Rosenberg is no stranger to Ironman. As an ART specialist and chiropractor, Dr. Hal has been to the Hawaii Ironman countless times to help athletes both prepare for their big day and to recover from the rigors Ironman distance racing. This weekend, however, it is Dr. Hals' time. He has balanced working long hours as a chiropractor, a social butterfly and a friend to all. 
Hal is a true athlete and hard working man. 
Ironman USA will be Hal's first Ironman.
Hal's bib number will be #503. Go Hal!

Race Results and upcoming events...

The 4th of July holiday saw some festive running in Southern California.
Coach Phil ran in the Channel Islands 5k and supported his mom, Shirley as she completed her first run/walk in 8 years! Go Shirley!

Coach Rachel took second place overall female and snagged the age group first for the 10k race. The Channel Islands 5k and 10k races were held in Oxnard, CA.

Monterey Bay Challenge, Bike for Breath 100k and Alcatraz Sharkfest.
Mark Fleming
is getting ready to test his wheels at this weekend's Monterey Bay Challenge Triathlon. This Olympic distance triathlon will serve as a hard workout and practice for Mark as he prepares for his first Ironman. 
Newly engaged, Mark is going full throttle in training and will be ready to take oN Ironman Wisconsin this September. Good luck Mark!

Bryan Suggitt will be doing a double this weekend. First he will start with the Bike for Breath metric century on Saturday. Then he will escape from the rock, swimming 1.5 miles from Alcatraz to San Francisco in the Sharkfest Swim. 
Bryan's next event is the Vineman Half-Ironman triathlon in Santa Rosa.

Big race weekend for Hypercat athletes!
Big Race Results for Hypercats!

Congratulations Greg Ott - IRONMAN!
Greg conquered Ironman Coeur d'Alene, his first Ironman, in 11 hours, 34 minutes, 13 seconds. Way to go, Greg! 

Coach Rachel did some pace work at the "Run for the Law" 10k in 
Los Gatos and took 1st place with the overall female win in 39:32.

Hal Rosenberg did a weekend double in preparations for Ironman USA.
Hal raced both the Pacific Crest 10k  and the Pacific Crest Duathlon, placing 
1st M30-34 in his age group in the 10k and 5th M30-34 in the duathlon. 
Rock on, Hal!

6/27/04 - Hypercat welcomes a new family member.
Hypercat Racing is proud to announce the addition of 1.25 pound, "Zola" to the family. Zola is a pure-bred Chihuahua. 
She was born on April 29th, 2004.
Zola will be carrying the Hypercat Racing banner with pride when she
begins competing in agility competitions.

23/04 - Hypercat Racing Welcomes Mark Reinstra!
Mark is father, husband and partner in a law firm...and in 2005 he will
add Ironman to the list. Mark is training for the Sentinel triathlon this fall and will tackle a marathon on the off-season, Ralph's California Half-Ironman in March 2005 among other events en route to Ironman Wisconsin 2005.
Coach Rachel will guide Mark in his training preparations.

Cynthia conquers Tri For Fun!
Cynthia Sass traveled to Pleasanton, CA on Saturday and competed in her very first triathlon. Cynthia took on the Tri for Fun triathlon, a 400 yard / 13 mile / 3 mile sprint event. With an infectious 'can-do' attitude, only a few weeks of triathlon specific training under her belt, an ol' trusty hybrid bike and a helluva super attitude, Cynthia crossed the finish line triumphantly and emerged a triathlete!  Way to go Cynthia! Next Stop: Donner Lake Sprint Triathlon.

Welcome aboard Cynthia Sass and Ken Jew, Hypercat Racing's newest athletes. Cynthia will participate in her first triathlon ever later this month and her goal is to complete the Big Kahuna Half Ironman in September.

Ken Jew is also preparing to compete in his first triathlon. Ken, an accomplished runner is now getting his feet wet and preparing to complete his first sprint and olympic triathlons this year. Welcome aboard Ken!

5/7/04 - RECALL - SM-SH92- Shimano Cleats

Ice Breaker Triathlon Results.
Congratulations to fellow Hypercats Drina and Kerry on their solid early season debut at the Ice Breaker Triathlon.

Drina Boban 1st place -  W30-34 age group.
Drina decisively won her competitive category by over 4 minutes.
Coached by Rachel Sears, Drina will be competing in the Wildflower Olympic distance triathlon on May 2nd, 2004.

Kerry McIntosh continues to make incredible improvement. Having invested a lot of time in training on her bike with early season road racing, Kerry is seeing that strength carry over into triathlon. Kerry's 2004 debut finished with 11th place for W30-34. Also, coached by Rachel Sears, Kerry will join Drina along with a sizable Hypercat contigent at the Wildflower Triathlons May 1st and 2nd.

3/9 Rachel coaches at USA Triathlon National Training Center
Coach Rachel served as Head Coach in Clermont, FL at the USA Triathlon National Training Center for 3 weeks of spring break triathlon camps.  Coaching athletes in swimming, cycling and running, Rachel also offered information on training, nutrition, transition and race strategies. Working in tandem with Coach Michael Bland of Austin, TX, Rachel guided athletes from the esteemed Air Force Academy as they prepare for the collegiate national championships in Arizona later this month. Rachel is a USAT certified Level II expert coach.
