Hypercat Racing will create training programs for 2006 Team USA Duathlon
World Championship squad.
For the fourth consecutive year, USA Triathlon has given Hypercat
Racing the nod to develop the training program
for Team USA for both the ITU Short Course Duathlon and ITU Long Course
Duathlon World Championships.
Coaches Rachel Sears and Phil Casanta will create an 8-week peaking
program for the Long Course duathletes
competing in Fredericia, Denmark in May 2006. A 12 week program will be
written for the short course duathletes preparing for the world
championships in Corner Brook, Newfoundland.
In 2006, Steve Garza (M25-29), coached by Rachel Sears, was the
fastest finishing Team USA male age group competitor in
the ITU short course world championships in Australia. In 2001, Sears,
coached by Phil Casanta, won the ITU
Duathlon Short Course World Championship title for women 25-29 and won the
bronze medal at the ITU Long Course
Duathlon World Championships the week prior.
