12/13/03 - East Bay Saturday Ride:
Inspiration Point loop the 3 bears and back.  This is a challenging 24-mile loop with 2000 ft of climbing.  We will be riding as a group on the flats and uphill with regrouping at the bottom of descents.  The focus for this ride is to stay together and to learn how to ride as a group on flats, rollers, and climbs. Due to the difficulty of this route we will have several regrouping points.

Ride details:

Departure: 9:00am (please arrive 10 minutes early for ride instructions)

Location: Inspiration point, Tilden Park (East Bay) on Wildcat Canyon Road

                        http://www.ebparks.org/resources/pdf/trails/tilden_north.pdf

Directions:

To get to this location there are several ways.
I have included the URL for the park map; inspiration point is off of Wildcat canyon road near the top of the map.

If you are coming form SF, you want to exit the 80 freeway past Berkeley at Buchanan.  Turn right and go straight staying on main road, this road turns into Marin, stay on Marin until the traffic circle, go through the traffic circle to the opposite side you entered and head up the hill (still Marin) Turn left at the Stop sign (Spruce), and continue up the hill until you get to Tilden park/ Grizzly peak road.  Head straight through intersection and stay on road going all the way through Tilden Park until you get to Inspiration point (parking lot on left and plenty of side of the road parking.  It takes about 20 minutes to get from the freeway to inspiration point.

Look for Coach Phil on a silver bike (Trek); waiting in the parking lot, I will be dressed in a lot of yellow.

12/14/03 - San Francisco Sunday Ride.
Golden Gate Bridge Paradise loop Golden Gate Bridge.  This is the standard paradise loop route; there are a few significant climbs but also many flat and rolling sections.  Again the focus is on staying as a group and practicing riding together.  We will regroup at key points along the way.  This is not a difficult ride and the pace will be a bit faster on the flat sections for training purposes.

Ride details:
Departure:  9:00am (please arrive 10 minutes early for ride instructions)

Location:  GGB parking lot, at the bathrooms (not the circular planter)

Directions:

To get to this location should be fairly easy for everyone, if you dont know how to get to the GGB please email me.  Use the dirt parking lot below the main lot if you are driving, as we will be gone more than 2 hours.
Look for Coach Phil on a silver bike (Trek).

12/20/03 - East Bay 30 mile loop - El Cerrito, CA
Amy Chen is leading a group departing from the El Cerrito Del Norte BART station at 9am. Please RSVP with Amy if you plan to show up, so the group knows to expect you. 415-225-7165

Ride details: Note from Amy, "Since I can't make the Sunday ride, I will be doing an easy 30 miles Saturday morning.  I am thinking flats to Wildcat/Grizzly Peak/Claremont.  We'll do one of the climbs that was on last Saturday's ride.  The route has a good mix of gradual climbs, flats and a fast descent.  Pace will be super mellow."

12/21/03 - Rudgear Rd Park and Ride - Walnut Creek, CA
Marc Perry graciously offered to organize this very mellow ride.
He says, "It's an out-and-back of about 24 miles with rolling terrain, wide bike lanes and no climbs. Only weather of biblical proportion cancels....in other words, rain or shine!  This is my first time on a bike after a two-month layoff due to injury, so this ride will be S-L-O-W.  Sure, you may miss the 49er game, but they're not doing that well, anyway, so it's a good time to release all that pent up aggression."

Coach Phil will drop in for a portion of the ride, joining the group for the out section and then cruising back on the return trip to make an appointment. Special thanks to Marc for organizing the ride.
